CRVSADES recently finished recording our second LP, entitled Perhaps You Deliver this Judgment with Greater Fear than I Receive It. Thematically, it’s a meditation on the life of philosopher, heretic and antichristian martyr Giordano Bruno as an archetype for the modern atheist, freethinker, artist, poet and lover.

The album was recorded with Mike Bond at Pebble Studios (the same venue in which we recorded the Parables EP) and is currently being mixed at Mike’s new compound, The Bond Cave. Artwork will once again be handled by me (Dave).

The record is slated to drop in late Summer/early Autumn and will be our first for No Idea Records. With a roster that’s been home to so many of our direct influences - from Radon/Spoke to Left For Dead/The Swarm to Hot Water Music/Small Brown Bike to Annalise/Leatherface ( …not to mention Crimpshrine, Acrid, Crass, The Holy Mountain, Crucible, Strike Anywhere, Ampere, Young Livers, Against Me, and beyond… ) - we can’t think of a more perfect fit for CRVSADES and couldn’t be more honoured to have such a great label & great people slap their stressface on our record.

On a personal note, I’d like to acknowledge the recent passing of SLAYER’s Jeff Hanneman.

Without a doubt, none of my musical output would be what it is without Jeff’s influence, and I was genuinely saddened to learn that he’s now gone, at only 49 years old. Jeff’s incredibly unique grasp of melody, speed, dissonance and atmosphere left an indelible mark on me at a very young age, as I know it did countless others, and in some small way, this new record (and all of those before it, really - find the SLAYER lyrics in CRVSADES’ “Remedy”… ) goes out to him & everyone he absolutely fucking rattled with his brilliance.

CRUSADES update.

Yep. We recently finished writing our new LP, which we will be recording at the end of April with our pal Mike Bond at Pebble Studios (where we also did the Parables EP).

The record will be titled Perhaps You Deliver this Judgment with Greater Fear than I Receive It. It will contain 10 tracks.

There is no official release date, as that will be up to the label, but we are anticipating an autumn release.

In performance news, we will be playing here in Ottawa (with the wonderful SOLIDS from Montreal) on March 8th at Pressed. We will also be playing this year’s Pouzza Fest with such little-known acts as AMERICAN STEEL, LEMURIA, BRAID, and about 1000 others.

Oh, and for anyone curious about the status of the North American pressing of the Parables EP (on It’s Alive Records), I am told that it will be ready to go sometime in March. In the meantime, it’s streaming on our Bandcamp site or is available in its European form over at Destructure Records.

We also have some new(ish) shirts up in the webstore, featuring the tour design c/o Drew Millward and Craig Robson.

Few bands have had as profound an effect on CRUSADES - musically, lyrically, and/or philosophically - as CATHARSIS. This coming January (should the world not crumble on December 21st), the entire Catharsis discography will be made available again in an elaborate 4xLP box set via Crimethinc. Do your ears, mind & heart a favour and look into it.

Here’s the INCREDIBLE tour poster designed by evil geniuses (genii?) Drew Millward and Craig Robson for our upcoming Euro tour.

Screened copies will be available at the shows in Europe, and I believe also through Drew and/or Craig’s online stores. We’ll also have a shirt version for sale (and hopefully some sick backpatches).

Ottawa Explosion was absolutely incredible.

CRUSADES recently finished tracking two new songs at PEBBLE STUDIOS here in Ottawa for our “PARABLES” EP to be released by DESTRUCTURE RECORDS in Europe and IT’S ALIVE RECORDS in North America. Mixing/mastering is scheduled for May 19/20, so more details will follow that.

The release will coincide with CRUSADES’ European tour beginning in mid-October and ending with our appearance at FEST 11 in Gainesville.

Tour details will be posted soon, but we have confirmed that both NO WEATHER TALKS and HYSTERESE will be sharing some of the dates, which we couldn’t be more thrilled about.

Also, webstore won’t be shipping orders for the next couple of weeks while Alex is in Ireland, so please be patient.
